John Putch
director/writer

Son of the late actress Jean Stapleton and theater producer William Putch, John Putch is often referred to as an independent film “real McCoy”.  One of his first indie efforts, "Valerie Flake," landed him at the '99 Sundance Film Festival and was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award.  Experienced in both Drama and Comedy, John’s other notable films include the cult indie favorites:  BACHELORMAN, MOJAVE PHONE BOOTH and the ROUTE 30 TRILOGY films.  TV directing includes: American Housewife, APB, No Tomorrow, Blackish, Rush Hour, The Middle, Body Of Proof, Scrubs, Cougar Town, My Name Is Earl, Ugly Betty, Grounded For Life, Outsourced, and multiple television movies and mini-series.  When John isn’t working for the studios, he enjoys making micro budget movies with a select group of cast and crew that he has collected on his travels.
